SureWest Webmail users can stop spam using the
Junk
Mail filter included in Webmail.
E-mail programs such as Outlook Express,
Outlook, etc. can
also be configured to stop spam.
SureWest Webmail's Junk Mail Filter
SureWest Webmail's Junk Mail filter is turned off by
default for new e-mail accounts. Follow the procedure below to turn on the
Junk Mail filter, which will then route unwanted e-mail to your Junk Mail
folder.
Procedure for Turning on the Junk Mail Filter
- Log in to SureWest Webmail at http://webmail.surewest.net/.
- Click the Options link in the top right area of the screen.

- Click the Options>Mail>Message Filters link in the left pane of the
screen to display Message Filters status.

- Click the Edit icon in the right side of the Message Filters
pane to display the Edit Junk Mail Filter pane.
- In the Select a Filter Condition area, select Normal.
- In the Select a Filter Action area, keep the Move to the Junk Mail folder
setting.
- Click OK.

Message Filters status indicates that the Junk Mail Filter
is set to Normal, as shown in the screenshot below. Junk Mail will now
be automatically moved to your Junk Mail folder. |
- Click Close in the top right area of the Message Filters pane
to close the Options page.

E-mail Programs
You can also create rules in Outlook Express,
Outlook, and other e-mail programs to filter out unwanted e-mail.
If you are using Outlook Express:
- Click Tools
- Click Message Rules
- Click Blocked Senders List
- Click Add and then add the e-mail addresses of senders you want to block.
If you are using Microsoft Outlook:
- Click Tools
- Click Rules Wizard
- Create rules for moving e-mail from certain senders to folders
other than your Inbox.
