Creating Files
SureWest personal web space servers support
HTML and JavaScript. There are a variety of ways to create HTML files.
You can download a free or shareware program for creating HTML files,
or you can even
use
Windows' built-in Notepad text editor or Mac OS X's SimpleText text editor.
Some popular and easy-to-use web design programs are listed below:
- Dreamweaver (Adobe)
- GoLive (Adobe)
- Any other web page design program

Uploading Files
You cannot view your Web site until you upload some files. At a minimum, you
must have at least one file named index.html on the SureWest
personal web space server in order to view your Web site. This file serves as
your home page.
You will need to use an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program to transfer your
files to the Surewest server. Some popular FTP programs are listed below:
Windows
- Dreamweaver's built-in FTP client
- WS_FTP
- Internet Explorer (version 5.0 and above) - URL: ftp://home.surewest.net
- CuteFTP
- filezilla - Download the FTP
Client Administration Tool from SureWest
Mac OS X

- Fetch
Some of these programs may be available for free (or free as a trial)
through any popular download site such as http://www.download.com.

- To manage the remote and local files more completely, click the 'Page' menu button on the right-hand side of the IE 7 browser window and select the option, "Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer".
