SureWest Online DVR Manager - (79399)

SureWest’s Advanced Digital TV with whole home DVR now offers Remote DVR scheduling.  This means you can access your DVR scheduling and recordings from anywhere with internet access!  Remote DVR scheduling enables you to schedule recordings, manage existing recordings, view your program guide and channel line up on right from your PC.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A subscription to ADTV is required (Digital Basic or higher)
  • “My SureWest” account is required
  • SureWest High Speed Internet or Telephone subscription is not required
  • Online DVR Manager is not available or viewable to Minerva customers

Login to Online DVR Manager

  1. Log in to My SureWest.
    Note: You must login using the My SureWest primary e-mail account in order to access the Online DVR Manager.
  2. Click on the My Services link.
  3. choose Online DVR Manager.

Online DVR Manager Guide

The guide will display all of the SureWest channels in the current time that you are accessing the guide. Use the scroll bar on the right side of the guide to see all of the channels.

Use the Date and Time drop down menus to change the dates and times of the guide information. Use the blue arrows in the top bar next to the times to move the guide information backward or forwards.

Schedule recordings with the DVR scheduler

  1. While in the program Guide screen click on a program title that you would like to record
  2. In the pop up dialogue that appears choose to Record this episode only or Record Series.  If you choose Record Series the following options will be available:
    • Time: this will enable you to choose if you would like episodes to record any day around the same time, any day any time, or any day anytime only once per day
    • Episode:  This drop down enables you to select First run and rerun or First run only
  3. Next choose when you would like to stop the recording, you can choose to stop it On Time as scheduled in the guide or extend the recording past the scheduled end time in case the program runs over.  You may choose from the extended recording time listed below:
    • 15 minutes after
    • 30 minutes after
    • 1 hour after
    • 2 hours after
    • 3 hours after
  4. Choose how long you would like to keep the recording from the Keep Until drop down.  The keep options available are:
    • Keep until space is needed
    • Keep until you delete
  5. Click on the Record button, red dots will appear next to the programs indicating that the recording is scheduled.  Your program will now be scheduled to record on your Whole Home DVR and will be accessible from all set-top boxes in your home.

Manage your Scheduled Programs

  1. Click on the Scheduled Shows header, a list of all programs scheduled to record will appear on the screen
  2. From the Scheduled Shows screen you may choose Delete to delete a single recording or Delete Series to delete an entire series.
    Note: No confirmation box will be displayed once Delete or Delete Series is selected, recordings will be automatically cancelled.
  3. You may also choose to edit the recording end time from the Scheduled Shows screen by clicking on the program title.  Once you click on a title and the dialogue box appears, select your preferred Stop time and click Update

Manage your Recorded Programs

  1. Click on the Recorded Shows header, a list of all programs stored on your DVR will appear
  2. To Delete a recorded program click the red delete button to the right of the program title and information. 
    Note: No confirmation box will be displayed once Delete is selected, recordings will be automatically deleted.
  3. From the Recorded Shows screen you may view your recording preferences for a particular recording.  Just click on the title, a dialogue box displays reflecting your Stop and Keep Until preferences.  You may choose to Delete a recording from this dialogue box as well. 
    Note: No confirmation box will be displayed once Delete is selected, recordings will be automatically deleted.

Search for programs using your DVR scheduler 

  1. To search for a program to record, click on the Search header
  2. From the Search screen type the program title you would like to search for in the search box and click on the Go button
  3. All available programs that match your search criteria will be displayed below the search box.  Click on a title to record one episode only or to record the series, a dialogue box will appear.  Choose your recording preferences then click on the Record button.  Your preferences for this recording will be saved and will be recorded on your SureWest Whole Home DVR and will be viewable from all set-top boxes in your home.

Online DVR Manager FAQs

Q: Can I watch my recordings online?
A:  Online DVR Manager is only used to manage DVR recordings.  It does not allow you to watch their recordings online.

Q: What can I actually manage?
A:  You can schedule, delete as well as modify start/end times and save options for individual or series recordings.

Q: Can any ADTV customer access Online DVR Manager?
A: A subscription to Digital Basic or higher is required with a DVR on account.

Q: Can a I access On Demand though Online DVR Manager?
A: No, you can only access linear channels.

Q: Can I record or edit Pay-per-view events off channel 971?
A: Currently No, but we are working to make this available to you in the future.

Q: Can I watch programs scheduled through Online DVR Manager on all my set-top boxes?
A: Yes, any program scheduled to record via Online DVR Manager will also display under the Recorded TV tab in the ADTV menu.

Q:  Are parental controls activated in Online DVR Manager?
A: Parental Controls are not activated through Online DVR Manager; they are activated through the set-top box.  In other words, you can record a blocked program via Online DVR Manager and the recording will show up on the set-top box; however you will need to disable parental controls in order to view the recorded blocked program on their TV.  Only Head of Household portal accounts (Primary Accounts) have access to Online DVR Manager. Sub accounts do NOT have access.

Q: All channels are listed in Online DVR Manager so can a I select to display only what I am subscribed to?
A: Not at this time, however this is being requested for a future release.

Q: Can I record a program from a channel I do not subscribe to via Online DVR Manager?
A: No, you will receive an error message advising that you do not subscribe to that particular channel.

Q: What if I record a program two weeks into the future via Online DVR Manager and then cancel the channel subscription before the scheduled to record date?  Will the program still be recorded?
A: No, the program will not be recorded due to the channel subscription being cancelled.

Q: Can I access Online DVR Manager through a smart phone?
A: Yes, if you have a browser-enabled phone you can access it through My SureWest.
