Voice Mail Guide - Extension Mailboxes - (49449)

Extension mailboxes are available only to Enhanced Voice Mail customers. If you have Basic Voice Mail, you do not have extension mailboxes.

Setup Instructions — Extension Mailboxes

  1. Access your main (host) mailbox by dialing your home telephone number or the access number for your area:
    • Auburn: 530.830.3700
    • Elk Grove: 916.226.2400
    • Lincoln / Sacramento: 916.359.MAIL (6245)
      Note: Do not enter # at this time.
  2. Press the extension number that you want to access while the main (host) message is playing. Mailbox 1 “91,” Mailbox 2 “92,” and so on (91–99).
  3. Press # when you hear the Extension Voice Mail greeting.
  4. Enter your temporary pass code (1234). You will now be asked to replace your temporary pass code with your own private pass code. Pass codes can be 4–10 digits long. For security reasons, we strongly advise you to change your pass code at this time.
  5. Follow the tutorial to navigate through your voice mail setup.

Helpful Hints On Recording A Greeting For Enhanced Voice Mail With Extension Mailboxes

Personalized Greeting
This option lets callers hear your menu greeting in your own voice. It is important to let callers know of the options they have. For example, “Thank you for calling the Jones family, please press “91” for Jim, “92” for Colleen, and “93” for Rob, or if you want to leave a general message, wait for the tone,” would be a good greeting. The mailbox numbers are listed with a 9 in front of them. Mailbox Extension 1 “91,” Mailbox Extension 2 “92,” and so on (91–99), depending on how many you have ordered.

Tip: If you have forgotten your pass code or your voice mail access number, call 888.946.3477 for help.

Standard Greeting
This option will let the voice mail system choose the navigation for incoming callers, only playing the recorded names that you enter during voice mail setup.

How to Access Your Extension Mailboxes (Enhanced Voice Mail Customers)

Extension mailboxes are available only to Enhanced Voice Mail customers. If you have Basic Voice Mail, you do not have extension mailboxes.

  1. Access your main mailbox by dialing either your home telephone number or the access number for Elk Grove / Lincoln / Sacramento: 916.359.MAIL (6245). Do not enter # at this time.
  2. Press the extension number that you want to access while the main (host) message is playing. Mailbox 1 “91,” Mailbox 2 “92,” and so on (91–99).
  3. Press # when you hear the Extension Voice Mail greeting.
  4. Enter your pass code.
  5. Follow the instructions to navigate through your voice mail.
